4.A Reflecting on Teaching
Learning to reflect on teaching has become the best way to learn what to try next time. I am constantly evaluating lesson plans, lesson structure, and assessment outcome. I believe reflecting on lessons and assessments makes me a stronger teacher because I have learned what works well and what can be improved the next time around. I have learned through experience that if something is not working, you must adjust on the spot and always have a backup plan. Then, reflecting on a situation that did not have the best outcome can change the future outcomes in other lessons.

4.B Maintaining Accurate Records
Recording and maintaining accurate records is important for student growth tracking and teacher reflection. I obtain grades mainly by assessment and participation. Evidence such as a writing sample, reading test, or math test backs up your grading records for discussion purposes. Setting individual goals such as words per minute read or retell (comprehension) can maintain an accurate record for that specific student. Creating individual goals will allow students to physically see and map out on a growth chart where they are and where they want to be in the future.

4.C Communicating with Families
Strong communication between the classroom and home is important for the success of the students. Having parents/guardians on the same page leads to a smoother discussion between strengths and areas to improve. I seek to be in contact with parents in my classroom in a positive way at the beginning of the school year. This builds a healthy relationship of trust between parent and teacher. I have used character pillar sheets during student teaching, along with parent teacher conferences, emails, and short visits to stay in touch with parents.
4.E Growing and Developing Professionally
There is always room for improvement! Participating in professional development days at BTS has given me the opportunity to become a student and learn new techniques and strategies to use in the classroom. Specific PD days include Marzano training (evaluation system), sinking fund information, progress monitoring (PLC), etc. To be the best as a teacher, that means putting in work behind the scenes.
"Katelynn is very professional when talking about our students to other teachers in PLC meeting. She takes her students learning seriously and seeks ideas from other teachers and outside resources to find the best strategies to work for her students. Katelynn has participated in our spirit week activities, which the students loved! Katelynn has also joined in our staff meetings and added to our conversations about student growth. "

4.F Showing Professionalism
I take being professional very seriously and always will. I look forward to interacting with other teachers, administration, and community members during and outside of school hours. I attend all staff meetings that are recommended and help out anyway that I can. I reflect on almost every lesson I teach by talking about what could go better, what went well and what I would change the next time. I think it is just as important to reflect as it is to prepare.
4.A-Reflection Blog
My reflection blog on technology integration plays into reflecting on my teaching and past experiences and how I can improve my skills and tools. Reflecting on your own teaching is very important in order to improve for the next time. A reflection blog can also hold a place where a teacher can keep track of what lessons he or she does throughout the week, how students do, and what should be changed in the lesson. A student can use a blog to post about assignments and receive immediate feedback from teachers and peers. As a future educator, a blog will be something I use to reflect on my teaching and interact with other teachers in the educational world. Blogging will help me grow as a teacher and learn from other teachers across the world.
