1.A Knowledge of Students
Nothing is more important than knowing what works best for your students! I believe in using all different types of learning strategies to engage all students. It is easiest to plan a lesson when I have a strong understanding and background knowledge of what works best for my students! Differentiating ways that students can achieve the same goal is something I strive for on a daily basis in the classroom. During student teaching, I learned very quickly that my class needed to be moving and hands on in order to be successful. I geared my lessons towards the students and their needs and that led to a successful outcome for myself and my second graders.
1.D Demonstrating Knowledge of Resources
Becoming in touch with resources around the classroom is very important. I have used several outside sources such as Youtube, Teachers Pay Teachers, Pintrest, and much more! I also look upon other second grade teachers in my building as resources as well, I believe that their knowledge from past experiences is better that any type of project online. Obtaining as many resources as possible leads to more opportunity for success in the classroom. Technology is one of the best resources there is because of the availability and abundance amount of information!
1.E Designing Coherent Instruction
When lesson planning, I use a daily routine to keep things consistent for my students. Creating lesson plans so that different parts of the lessons flow together smoothly may take some adjusting. I take it as a personal goal to create lessons that are solid in all aspects. Organization is a strong quality to have in the classroom and while creating lesson plans.
Technology in the Future!
3D Printing
3D printing is an amazing tool that students can use to create objects of their desire. In my future classroom, I could use 3D printing and have my students create name tags so I can learn their name. Students could use 3D printing to create life-like shapes to help them find the circumference, radius, and size. This is a digital tool that promotes creativity, especially if students do not have specific guidelines and rules to follow. A student's creative side could really shine if 3D printing is an option for them instead of creating a 2D object. This is a great learning experience for students to use their creative side, while as a teacher I can learn more about them.
